The dream has come true

On August 29, 2000, Mamadalieva Intizor Mukhamedovna, a stateless person living in Karshi, moved from the Kyrgyz Republic to Uzbekistan. She was issued a residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan "For a stateless person".

She repeatedly applied for recognition as a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan, but her request was denied. After adopting the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan" dated June 14, 2021, a stateless person, Mamadalieva Intizor, got an opportunity to apply once again. According to this law, Article 6 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan", adopted on March 13, 2020:

  • A person registered in the Republic of Uzbekistan at the place of permanent residence before January 1, 2005, and was not a former foreign citizen, shall be recognised as a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan upon request.

A citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan shall be a person who has been permanently residing in the Republic of Uzbekistan for at least fifteen years prior to the date of application for recognition as a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan and who has not been a foreign citizen during this period.

If one of the parents (single father or mother) is recognised as a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a child who has not acquired foreign citizenship and resides in the Republic of Uzbekistan. In that case, he/she shall be recognised as a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Mamadalieva Intizor Mukhamedovna was one of the first who applied to the Department of Migration and Citizenship of Karshi to recognise citizenship in the Republic of Uzbekistan and submitted the relevant documents. Employees of the Department of Migration and Citizenship issued an identification card of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan and handed it over. As a result, Intizor Mamadalieva became a citizen of Uzbekistan on July 14, 2021.
